Check Your Case Status with UCSIS

  • The USCIS Case Status Online is a website by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that allows applicants and petitioners to check the status of their immigration cases by inputting your USCIS receipt number. 

  • The receipt number is a unique 13-character identifier issued by USCIS. It is printed on the receipt notice (Form I-797C, Notice of Action) that USCIS sends after receiving your application or petition.

  • The receipt number typically begins with three letters, such as "EAC," "WAC," "LIN," or "MSC," followed by 10 numerical digits.

  • After entering the receipt number, click the "Check Status" button.

Check Current Processing Times for USCIS Forms

  • The USCIS Processing Times Website by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) helps applicants and petitioners understand how long it typically takes USCIS to process various types of applications and petitions.

  • From the dropdown menu, select the specific form related to your application or petition. 

  • Select the appropriate category for your application. Processing times are often case-specific. 

  • Choose the specific service center or field office handling your case. This information is on your receipt notice (Form I-797C) under "Receipt Number."

Check Current Visa Availabilities with NVC

  • The NVC (National Visa Center) Visa Bulletin Website  provides updated information about the availability of immigrant visa numbers, helping applicants determine when they can proceed with their cases.

  • Determine the preference category of your application.

  • Compare your priority date (on your Form I-797 Notice of Action or immigrant petition approval notice) with the cutoff dates listed in the bulletin.

  • If your priority date is earlier than the cutoff date for your category and country, you are eligible to proceed.

  • Visa availability is based on the applicant's country of chargeability (usually the country of birth).

  • The Visa Bulletin is updated monthly, and cutoff dates can progress forward, remain the same, or even go backwards (retrogress).

  • The USCIS Case Inquiry Website is for applicants and petitioners who want to ask USCIS about the status of their immigration case when it falls outside the normal processing time or requires action due to specific circumstances.

  • You can ask about your case if it is outside the standard processing timeframe.

  • You can resolve issues such as typographical errors, missing notices, or incorrect case information.

  • You can request assistance for special situations like expedited processing or accommodations for disability.

USCIS Form Fees

  • The USCIS Fee Schedule Site allows you to check the filing fees for applications or petitions with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). 

  • Use the list of forms to find the specific application or petition you are filing. 

  • USCIS payments must be submitted at the same time with your application.

  • Acceptable USCIS payment methods include: personal checks or money orders payable to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" or you can pay by credit card using USCIS Form G-1450.

USCIS Fee Exemptions

  • Qualification for a USCIS form fee exemption is based on the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

  • This exam is required for the adjustment of status process to become a lawful permanent resident in the United States.

  • You will need to input your ZIP code or address into the search box to display a list of USCIS-authorized doctors near you. 

  • Costs for the I-693 exam can vary widely; call multiple clinics for quotes.

  • Providing your vaccination records can reduce costs and ensure faster processing.

Petitioner Sponsor Agreement

  • The USCIS Form I-864P Website provides the official Poverty Guidelines used to determine the income requirements for completing Form I-864, Affidavit of Support.

  • The petitioners and financial sponsors must demonstrate they have sufficient income or assets to financially support the intending immigrant(s) and prevent reliance on public benefits.

  • The chart displays the minimum income requirements for sponsors based on household size, which includes the sponsor, intending immigrant(s), any dependents.

  • The petitioner must show income at or above 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for most sponsors.

  • Form N-648 allows applicants to request an exemption from the English and/or civics test requirements due to a documented medical condition or disability.

U.S. Visa Fees

  • The U.S. Department of State Visa Fees Website provides  the fees associated with various U.S. visas, for both nonimmigrant visas (temporary visits) and immigrant visas (permanent residence).

  • The payment methods vary by country and U.S. embassy or consulate.

  • Typical payment methods include online payments, bank transfers, or in-person payments at designated locations. 

  • Visa application fees are generally nonrefundable and nontransferable, even if the application is denied.

  • You must keep the proof of payment as it is required for the visa application process.

  • The fee must be paid before scheduling your visa interview.

  • The MyUSCIS Account Portal  allows users to create a personal account to manage and track their immigration cases with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

  • It offers a convenient way to  file USCIS forms and evidence online, monitor case updates and communicate with USCIS.

  • You will first need to Sign Up to create an account using your email address.

  • You can add a receipt number for any USCIS applications or petitions to link your case to your account.

  • It can provide your case status updates, including processing stages and decision notifications.

  • The AskNVC Website is provided by the U.S. Department of State's National Visa Center (NVC).

  • It allows applicants and petitioners to contact the NVC regarding case-specific questions or concerns about their immigrant or nonimmigrant visa applications. 

  • You can ask questions regarding your application status, any missing documents, payment concerns or changes in personal information (address or email address changes).

  • The NVC Case Number or USCIS Receipt Number typically begin with three letters. 

  • You can attach any supporting documents if necessary.

  • The Find Your U.S. Representative Website helps individuals identify and contact their congressional representative based on their residential address.

  • Members of the U.S. House of Representatives can assist constituents with federal agency issues, including immigration cases, by working through dedicated liaison contacts.

  • Locate your congressional representative by entering your residential ZIP code or address.

  • Reach out to the office and explain the issue you are experiencing with your immigration case and request assistance.

  • They can help cases experiencing processing delays or for expediting  urgent cases.
